My Story

Well where do I begin. Lets give a brieft over-view of the last 20 years to give you a feel for the fact that once I made the decision to change my life turned around. I remember being entreprenuerial even as a kid selling Pierre Cardin pens, designer jumpers and perfume to the kids in school, even my teachers. I lacked confidence in school as I was very small and looked really young for my age.

So from school – I was an avid snooker player and very good at it is was to. But not quite good enough in the end as I never really had the confidence needed to succeed. (this would follow me for many years)

So I move into a job at the age of 19 working in the bathroom industry in telesales for a UK company called Davroc, based in Hoddesdon, Herts. I really loved it here and made mnay friends. I also learnt so much from the owners in how to manage myself and actulaly many of the lessons I never truly realised until 15 years later. But I will always be grateful to them for that early influence.

I worked in the office and also had a run at being a sales rep on the road for them to. This was visiting bathroom showrooms and trying to sell them more upper market bathroom products. It was alot about relationship building and here my sales mentor, Steve causton was amazing. I really viewed this guy as an older family member and will again always be grateful to him for what he taught me.

So from here, 7 years later, I went onto a company called Airbath, based in Leeds and went out on the road full time selling top quality spa bath’s. This was visiting exclusive showroom’s and training the staff in how to sell spa bath’s to the public. This was alot of fun as we would have many trips and seminars with top showroom owners and the nightlife that came with this job was fantastic. I did however gain alot of weight here!!! Hey that eating out and drinking life was fun but had it’s issue’s to.

Well 3 years and 3 stone later I decided my first attempt at my own business was long overdue. So I look at these bathroom showroom’s and think “I can do that”. And off I went with my best mate, borrowed some money and set up my very own bathroom showroom in Stoke Mandeville, Bucks. Right at the Bucks Goat centre. Long story short I had the business sense of a toffee and just as we approached our first year in business, right when the twin towers were hit in New York, we were so much in debt we had to close the doors.

I remember I cried that day as I had always wanted my own business and this was my baby. Now gone, staff unemployed and now seriously in debt.

I turned to a friend in the industry who offered me work but it meant a 3 hour each way journey but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do. So the day after my showroom closed I was travelling the 6 hour a day journey to work 9 hours in my friends showroom in Essex.

My wife worked extra shift as a midwife and I have to say here that she stuck with it through thick and thin. Incredible loyalty from someone so young and I cannot thank her enough for how she rallied time after time.

So I did this trip for 3 weeks until we could move into London which meant a job change for Natalie into agency midwifery which paid much better and for me, I continued on at my friends showroom in Essex but now the journey was down to a measly 1 hour 40 mins each way!!!!!

I did this for 18 months before a move to another showroom in Essex to take on a more self employed role as a bathroom planner / designer. This was great but again I always felt I was not in the right place. I knew my true vocation lied in doing my own things.

During this 4 year spell at the Essex showrooms I also tried my hand at many projects including applying for a patent for a new idea on a maternity bra, mirros that dont steam up, (fog free mirrors for our American readers), natural cleaning products from Hawaii and finally onto property.

This one I felt I had learned my lesson’s of the past. I took my time, educated myself, went to seminars, studied auctions, copied the pro’s and yet all 4 deals I went for fell through costing me thousands. I had done everything right yet it just didn’t happen.

Anyway, I moved through 7 business attempts in 8 years all to no avail. Then whilst working as a bathroom designer I happened to design the bathroom of a couple in London who were Herbalife distributors and judging by what they spent with me they were doing pretty well.  So we get’s to talking and I thought man, I have found where I should be. Or so I thought.

I went to the meetings, I studied, worked, improved and after 18 months I found that I was £7,000 worse off and still unsure of exactly how to make money. I followed what I was taught but this proved to be nothing short of financial suicide not only for me but for many many others to. I knew there must be a better way.

At this time I slipped into a depression. I had a 6 month old son, we were broke living on state benefits in a shit hole of a house. My wife was working full time while I was at home taking care of our son and still trying to find a way to “make it”.  Now some £100,000 ($150,000) in debt for the first time in my life I felt helpless.

I had tried 8 businesses and now an MLM and all I had was battle scars and huge debt’s. I had got it all wrong, I had listened to the wrong people and I blamed them totally for it. Thats where I was wrong. I WAS RESPONSIBLE!.

Now I knew I needed to change. So i sought the help of a professional in hypnotherapy and psychotherapy to help me change into the person I wanted to be. a happy content successful person. Completely the opposite to where I was. This lady was the biggest influence on my life ever. She help me to change everything. Old baggage, old habbits, to underatand myself and why I do things and to re-program myself.

I won’t go into the details of this therapy but just to say I went every week for 20 months and I now know mysekl better than most, I also know human behaviour and why others act the way they do. This gives me insights that me I never blame anyone for their actions. I understand, accept and move on. Amazing part of my life and one that cahnged my path forever.

So coupled in with this therapy I hunted out how I was going to use the internet to really make me money. I felt at this time I just wanted the internet to do the work for me. I was tired and thought if the web could do it then I would be able to sit back a bit. WRONG!! LOL.

This is where I got a break. Mark Bowden of MarketingTipsUK.com answered my rather aggressive application for one of his courses and he worked out something with me that was to give me my first break in Internet Marketing. I had already written my Ebook on generating free uk leads (www.FreeMLMLeadsUK.com)

He helped me get the sales page up and he trained me in how to market online. Without his “arrangement” and help I would never have been able to get started and I am so grateful to him for what he did. We continue to speak regularily and share idea’s and he’s is such a great guy to.

This brings me into the world of Internet Network Marketing and creating income streams online. I joined Utlity Warehouse to give me a slow burner of an MLM but I needed something faster to get going.

I learnt how to build a list, how to make money delivering value and now, coupled with my primary income opportunity I make a serious income from home working when I choose.

I now own my Membership website teaching UK Network Marketers how to make money and generate leads online to keep their 4-10 year MLM plan alive (www.mlmEdge.co.uk). It;’s growing so fast I can hardly keep up. I love what I do and I am a true example of you earn what you learn. I wish the same for anyone who decides, as i did, that no matter what has happened they want to change and improve themselves to create a better life. It all comes down to desire, drive, determination, education and action.

  • That sounds similar to myself. I tried Herbalife, Alloette, & Amway, all to no avail. My husband and I did 6 years, together, in Kirby Vacuum products and was successful but never really had to freedome to be with our family. Then when my father became ill I had to leave him and our business behind in South Carolin and return to Kentucky and when my husband chose to join me we went into a Insulated Metal Business and survived. Since he moved to California I’ve struggled to keep myself afloat and I would like a chance to find something that would work for me, so I can pay my bills, take care of my kids without having to put them in daycare, and take care of my father. Your experiences are an inspiration. Thank you for sharing.

I just wanted to say thanks for the 2 hour training you gave me today in my house and that I feel much more confident since meeting you. In one hour after your leaving my place I received 10 leads which has given me a boost. Once again thanks for everything and keep up the good work. You are a man in a million.
